Call your elected officials to let them know you oppose genetically modified fish being approved by FDA.

Summary

“…One of the biggest concerns is the amount of food required to raise farmed salmon. It generally takes three pounds of wild fish to grow one pound of farmed salmon. The environmental impact of salmon farming is still increasing as global production continues to rise.

Most salmon are farmed in open pens and cages in coastal waters. Waste from these farms is released directly into the ocean. Parasites and diseases from farmed salmon can spread to wild fish swimming near the farms and escaping farmed salmon can harm wild populations. As a result, all salmon farmed in ocean net pens get an “Avoid” ranking.

However, some salmon farmers are making changes to improve their practices. So far, one change has proven successful—raising U.S. freshwater coho using inland tank-based, closed systems. Closed systems reduce environmental risks by containing pollution, disease, parasites and reducing fish escapes and result in a “Best Choice” ranking.

Look for wild-caught salmon or clearly labeled U.S.-farmed freshwater coho salmon. For now, “Avoid” farmed Atlantic salmon…”

Top senator apologizes for ‘Monsanto Protection Act’ after public outrage

The blowback caused by a new law that lets biotech companies like Monsanto escape litigation is so tremendous that a senior senator from Maryland has offered the public an apology.

US Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.) has issued a statement expressing her regret for letting this year’s Agriculture Appropriations bill — an annual continuing resolution spending act — be signed into law.

“Senator Mikulski understands the anger over this provision. She didn’t put the language in the bill and doesn’t support it either,” begins a statement from her office dated Friday, March 29.

As RT reported earlier, President Barack Obama inked his name last Tuesday to the bill, H.R. 933, and in doing so signed off on a deal that essentially prevented a government-wide shut down.

In doing as much, though, the president approved a provision that lets the companies that make genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and genetically engineered (GE) seeds step over legal hurdles in the future regarding lab-made products that may later be proven to be dangerous.

CALL FOR COMMENTS ON TESTING ANTHRAX VACCINE ON CHILDREN

The Obama administration ’s bioethics commission is moving forward with plans to test anthrax vaccine on children, with one proposal to start with 18-year-olds and move to 17-year-olds and then down in age groups. If this plan is approved, how will the children to be tested be chosen? And will anthrax vaccinations be made mandatory for all children once the test is completed? This has the potential to do great harm to our children, and I urge you to study the issue and voice your opposition. After all, what will follow anthrax as there are unlimited diseases which could be weaponized and unleashed on society. Will vaccines be prepared for all those diseases and administered to the public?

Ethics Panel Sets Bar for Anthrax Vaccine Research in Children

The Obama administration’s bioethics commission on Tuesday laid out guidelines for testing anthrax vaccine in children that make such studies extremely difficult and probably impossible.

Studies of the controversial vaccine’s effects on children can be done only if the research poses at most a “minor increase over minimal risk” to their health. That would be the equivalent of becoming sick enough to miss several days of school or getting a chest X-ray.

“Higher risk is unacceptable in the context of pre-event . . . research,” the 13-Member Commission wrote in a 146-page report.

U.S. STOCKPILING EXPERIMENTAL SMALLPOX MEDICINE

According to a March 12, 2013, New York Times article, “The United States government is buying enough of a new smallpox medicine to treat two million people in the event of a bioterrorism attack and took delivery of the first shipment of it last week.” The drug has not been approved by the FDA except for use in emergencies and it has never been tested on smallpox in humans because the disease was eradicated by 1980. Why is the government paying over $230 a course instead of the $5 to $10 a course predicted when stockpiling a smallpox drug was first proposed in 2001 after the September 11 and anthrax attacks? Why have they ordered so many doses of an unproven drug? Why haven’t the stockpiles of smallpox being held by Russia and U.S. been destroyed as recommended by WHO?

World Economic Forum – Geoengineering

Over 2,500 top business leaders, international political leaders, selected intellectuals and journalists were introduced to the danger of “rogue deployment of geoengineering” at the recent meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Scientists working on these programs are seeking to get funding and legitimacy by scaring people into believing it is necessary to “block the sun to save the earth” to stop global warming. They also want complete control.

Look at the sky and be aware that these programs aren’t in the future. They are here now. The sky is whiter, the sunsets more vivid, and much of the runaway climate change factors can be traced to this program. It’s time to stop experimenting with our planet.

UN MEETING TO SEEK CONTROL OF INTERNET

The UN will meet for two weeks in Dubai to figure out how to control the internet. Authoritarian governments are using the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) to try to impose a fee on internet companies in order to block U.S. websites. China, Russia, Iran and Arab countries are using this ethod to take over the rules and workings of the internet. Iron Dump in Ocean Leads to Calls for Comprehensive Test Ban of Geoengineering

California businessman, Russ George, convinced a small indigenous community of 700 people in Old Massett, British Columbia, Canada, to invest $2.5 million in a “geoengineering” project of iron dumping in the ocean to stimulate plankton growth in order to restore the salmon in the area. Russ George convinced them they could restore the health of the sea and recover their investment through carbon trading and through harvesting a revived salmon run.

The project is in direct violation of a moratorium on iron dumping put in place at the meeting of the United Nation’s Convention on Biodiversity (CBD) two years ago. Hands Off Mother Earth (H.O.M.E.) organized a successful campaign to stop such practices after Mr. George had dumped iron by the Galapagos Islands, threatening that fragile region. Legal experts say it also violates the London convention on the dumping of wastes at sea. Both conventions prohibit for-profit ocean fertilization activities.

Governments of Bolivia, the Philippines and African nations as well as indigenous peoples organizations at the current meeting of the UN CBD in Hyderabad, India, are calling for the current moratorium to be upgraded to a comprehensive test ban of geoengineering that includes enforcement mechanisms.
