High levels of arsenic and lead in foods and juices designed for children

High levels of lead have been found in many foods and juices designed and marketed for children according to a press release by the Environmental Law Foundation (www.envirolaw.org).  An independent study by the St. Petersburg Times last spring revealed between 25 and 35 parts per billion of arsenic in the 18 samples of  apple juice they tested.

No Need to Rush Passage of Climate/Energy Bill

With the defeat of the Murkowski Resolution  the ability of the EPA to regulate greenhouse gases has been upheld.  Therefore, there is absolutely no need for the comprehensive climate/energy bill being promoted by Senators Kerry and Lieberman.See the excellent analysis by Rosalind Peterson of Agriculture Defense Coalition and the attached poster we took to every Senate office in January.

VOTE NO ON U.S. SENATE RESOLUTION 26 – PROTECT THE EPA

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the EPA could regulate greenhouse gases starting
in 2010.  This wise decision by the Supreme Court allows the United States to lead the
world in reducing greenhouse gases and fines the major polluters who don’t curtail their
greenhouse gas emissions.

The Climate/Energy bill draft proposed by Senators Kerry and Lieberman will undermine
